About McTimoney

McTimoney manipulation aims to realign the spine and mobilize joints to release muscle tension and optimise movement. Performance can be improved, behavioural issues resolved and general well being achieved.

Many of us have suffered back pain at some point in our lives, and those of us that have will know how difficult doing simple tasks can be. To enable us to carry out simple tasks when we are in pain we compensate through the rest of our bodies, and end up aching in other areas too.

Like us animals can suffer back pain, but unlike us they are unable to self medicate with pain killers or seek professional help. It is up to us as horse owners, riders, trainers and pet owners to recognize that our animals are in pain and to seek the right professional help.

McTimoney animal manipulation has evolved over the past 50 years from McTimoney Chiropractic techniques. The treatment is relatively gentle, and aims to release soft tissue and muscle tension by applying a quick, precise adjustment to the individual vertebrae, joint or bone. The whole body is assessed for muscle tension and wastage, skeletal symmetry, joint movement and of course pain.

As a qualified McTimoney Animal Manipulation Therapist I have completed a two year Post Graduate Diploma jointly awarded from the McTimoney Chiropractic College and the University of Wales. I work closely with vets and other professionals including farriers, dentists, saddlers and other complimentary therapists. This not only ensures safe and effective treatment but will improve prognosis, and help prevent injury long term.

N.B.
Under current legislation, the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) regulates the treatment of humans by chiropractic techniques, and only those practitioners qualified to treat people are allowed to use the term 'Chiropractor'. The use of the word McTimoney to describe the animal treatment DOES NOT imply that Animal practitioners are chiropractors.
